Cross Country Day 4

Start: Jackson, TN
End: Springfield, MO
Miles: 329

The morning started out late. I unpacked then repacked the car in order to get everything to fit, then we headed  on our way. We stopped by Starbucks for breakfast, then jumped on the interstate, became very turned around after the GPS couldn't decide where it was going, then finally started on our long stretch of road. We entered Missouri and the Ozarks around noon. That was marked by a large suspension bridge over the Missouri (or Mississippi River, depending on where you're from) and a large amount of duck hunters and their dogs. We passed through some of the smallest towns I've ever seen and came within 20 miles of the Missouri/Arkansas state line. The south has Rednecks. Missouri has hillbillies. We stopped for lunch at a McDonald's in Van Buren, Missouri. The inside of the convenience store attached to said McDonald's was filled with taxidermied deer heads and maybe one or two boar heads. Yup. Two hours later, we landed in Springfield, however on the hopposite side of town from where my grandparents live thanks to some mayor's decision to combine "Valley" and "Road" and then put an "ave" behind it. Regardless, we made it, and had a lovely dinner with my grandparents, aunt, uncle, and my cousin.
