Hooray for another Pinterest Friday! I saw this idea a few months back and thought it'd be cute to try. It adds interest to an otherwise eyesore on the wall. We moved into our new apartment two weeks ago, and, sure enough, this was a major eyesore on the wall. So I grabbed a frame and put it around the air conditioner control. Here is what it looks like in our house:
We like it. The wall is plain, so it adds color and interest to something that would otherwise have been very boring. What do you all think?
Another thing you can do to eyesores on walls, ie light switches, is add a photograph. Take a photo from a magazine, or print a personalized one on thin paper. Unscrew the light switch plate. You will need to measure exactly where the light switch comes through in and cut out the box for it. You'll also want to make sure that the location doesn't look to bad with the switch coming out of it. Then, put a thin layer of elmer's glue on the front of the light plate. And carefully line up the picture and set it on there. Smooth out any bumps. Then wrap the extra around and glue about .5-1 inch of extra picture around the back of the plate.

That is an AWESOME idea! I'm definitely going to have to try that, maybe with some Scrapbook paper and modpodge.
